JKTD imposes fine of Rs 26,000 on hotels, lodges in Jammu

Ahead of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, 2012, Deputy Director Tourism, the designated enforcement agency for implementation of tourist trade act, along with tourist police conducted on the spot checking of hotels and lodges operating around the Railway Station in Jammu city.

The defaulters who did not display the tariff being charged form the costumers and those having un-registered units under the act were fined, officials said.

Nine hotels and Lodges were fined and revenue to the tune of Rs 26,000 was collected and remitted in the government treasury.

Further instructions were given to all owners of hotels and lodges operating around the Railway Station to display the tariff and properly register their lodges under registration of tourist trade act with the concerned authorities.

 

They were also instructed to keep a complaint box and complaints register so that tourist can record their grievance in writing, they said adding that they were also instructed on spot to ensure cleanliness and provide proper service to the tourist so that they get satisfactory treatment during their stay in Jammu.
