The amount to be disbursed among repatriated Brus under rehabilitation and resettlement package should be fixed expeditiously, according to a decision of the Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) on Bru Repatriation.

JMG member and additional secretary to Mizoram home department Lalbiakzama told PTI over phone the decision was taken at a meeting of the body held in Delhi yesterday.

It was attended by representatives of the ministry of home affairs, Mizoram and Tripura governments and Mizoram Bru Displaced People's Forum (MBDPF).

MHA has already approved Road Map-V for Bru repatriation in accordance with which return of the displaced tribals from six relief camps in Tripura is scheduled to commence from early November.

MBDPF president A Sawibunga and general secretary Bruno Msha, who represented the inmates of the relief camps, were informed that all of them should return to Mizoram this time as the Centre is likely to stop payments to those who choose to remain in the relief camps.

The first JMG meeting was held in Tripura on August 30 and yesterday's meeting decided to hold the third meeting soon.

The JMG is headed by Special Secretary (Internal Security) of the Ministry of Home Affairs M K Singla.
