JMM MLA Sita Soren, one of the accused in the horse trading case lodged during the 2012 Rajya Sabha elections, was today released from prison.

The Jharkhand High Court had on September 11 granted her bail.

Sita Soren, the sister-in-law of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, was in jail from February 25 this year after she surrendered to a lower court.

The CBI is probing the case, in which several MLAs from different political parties are accused of taking bribe to cast votes in favour of independent candidates.

The central agency had also conducted raids during the course of investigation.

The 2012 biennial elections was held afresh after the notification was rescinded by the Election Commission following seizure of Rs 2.15 crore from a car, allegedly belonging to a kin of one of the independent candidates, by the police and Income Tax officials at Namkum in Ranchi.
