With polls in Jharkhand due this year, Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said the main challenge for his party was to ponder over alliance with different parties to prevent "communal forces" from capturing power.

"Our chief aim is to challenge communal forces. So our party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), will discuss stitching alliances with different parties with an open mind," Soren told reporters here.

Stating that the ruling three party alliance led by the JMM was functioning well, Soren said alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress could be continued.

To a query, he said there was no proposal to contest in alliance with Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) of Babulal Marandi, but the party's executive committee meeting today would discuss all issues.
