As another incident of attack on a JNU student came to light today, the varsity's Vice Chancellor S K Sopory said such acts have no place in the university and prompt action will be taken against anti-social elements.
A 20-year-old Spanish language student of the Jawaharlal Nehru University was slapped and molested inside the university campus yesterday allegedly by a former student of the prestigious institute.
Reacting to the incident, Sopory said it was unacceptable and remedial measures are being put in place to ensure no such incidents take place in the campus.

"I got to know about the incident this evening and have asked the chief proctor to give me a detailed report in the matter tomorrow. I have got to know the boy has been arrested. No such anti-social elements will be tolerated, neither any such incident will be allowed to go unaddressed.
"Whenever we get to know about such incidents, we immediately take action. The gender sensitisation committee and the university are conducting several student meetings to address the issue. I reiterate that no such incidents will be allowed to go unaddressed," Sopory told PTI.
Meanwhile, Prof. Ayesha Kidwai, faculty representative of JNU's Gender Sensitisation Committee on Sexual Harassment (GSCASH), claimed that the girl had narrated the incident at a GSCASH student meeting last evening, following which prompt action was taken by reporting the matter to the police.
"The girl had narrated the incident at a student meeting of GSCASH and immediately we called the security at the campus, who then called the police. A complaint was filed with the police around 11.30 PM in the night.
"The GSCASH chairperson and other members along with the warden were present when the case was being filed. The girl is fine and there is no threat to her," she said.
