JNUSU members today staged a protest against incidents of mob violence outside the Delhi Police headquarters, demanding that strict action be taken to prevent such cases.

The protesters alleged lapses on the part of the police and the government in the recent incident of a mob attack on six men in Baba Haridas Nagar over ferrying buffalo calves.

JNUSU vice president Amal P P in a statement said that instead of taking strict action to check such cases of brutality, the police and the government are "maintaining criminal silence and in some cases helping the culprits run away or pressuring the victims family for compromise".

"We met Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police R P Upadhyay and apprised him of this. Also, we would be vigilant about the incidents of mob violence and lynching. We would keep up the pressure on police," he said.
