A 23-year-old youth, who was depressed over being jobless, allegedly committed suicide today by jumping from a multi-storeyed building on Barakhamba Road area of central Delhi, police said.

The deceased, identified as Rakesh, in his fatal bid, also critically injured one Manoj Singh, a sales representative who was walking on the road when he fell on him. While Rakesh died on the spot, Manoj was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.

As per police, Rakesh jumped from the top floor of the Delhi Cloth Mills building located on Barakhamba road at around 12:30 PM.

Police recovered a purported suicide note from Rakesh's pocket in which he claimed he has been depressed as he could not get a job for himself despite several attempts and his education is of no use.

He had given the names and phone numbers of his brother and father in the suicide note and they have been informed, said a police official.
