The Chhattisgarh Assembly today suspended Amit Jogi and two other MLAs forthe day for violation of rules of conduct on several occasions during theongoing winter session.

Besides Jogi, who represents Marwahi, Congress MLA from Bilha constituency Siyaram Kaushik and MLA from Gunderdehi R K Rai (suspended from Congress) faced the action.

The Speaker said that for the last threedays Jogi, Rai and Kaushik were deliberately rushing into the well of the House.

As per a convention of ChhattisgarhAssembly, an MLA is deemed suspended if he or she enters the well.

The legislators areinstructed to follow the rules and repeated violations are not pardonable, the Speaker said.

Earlier, during the zero hour, Jogi raised the issue of Mahanadi river water dispute between Chhattisgarh and Odisha and sought a discussion on it through adjournment motion.

He alleged that Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti ordered the state government to halt construction of barrages on the river during a tripartite meeting on September 17, 2016. Minutes of this meeting were available, he said.

Intervening, Revenue Minister Prem Prakash Pandey raised a point of order and said such information should be provided in advance for the discussion and the MLA should reveal the source of information.

Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal rejected the demand for discussion. Jogi, Kaushik and Rai then trooped into the well of the House.

The Speaker said this conduct was not appropriate and reserved his ruling which was read out in the House later.
