A 1965 Ferrari owned by Beatles legend John Lennon was sold at Goodwood Festival of Speed for 359,900 pounds.

The 1965 330GT 2+2 Coupe was the first car to be owned by him and comfortably exceeded its estimated value of 180,000 pounds to 220,000 pounds, reported Daily Telegraph.

Lenon went on to cover more than 20,000 miles in the car before selling it in 1967.

Its sale in the Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed auction on July 12 contributed to the highest grossing auction of motor cars in Europe, raising more than 36 million pounds.

Other highlights included the Mercedes W196 race car, which at 19.6 million pounds (including fees) is the most expensive car ever sold at auction, and a 1955 Maserati 300S Sports-Racing Spider, sold for 4,033,500 pounds.
