The Beatles fans now have a chance to drive John Lennon's vintage Austin Princess, which will go to auction on September 7.

The late musician's classic ride will be offered for sale at RM Sotheby auction house where it is expected to fetch up to 265,000 pounds, reported Female First.

Lennon bought the car in 1971. It was also used in the film 'Imagine'.

The buyer will get the original registration documents with Lennon's signature.

The car was donated to the Austin Rock and Roll Car Museum in Texas in 2008 by previous owner Milton Verret. The money raised from the sale will go towards charity including UNICEF and Make A Wish America.

Lennon, who was a part of Beatles with George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, was shot dead outside the Dakota apartment building in New York in 1980 by Mark David Chapman. He is survived by his wife Yoko Ono and two sons - one from his first wife, Cynthia.

McCartney and Starr are the only surviving members of the band.
