John Mayer thinks Miley Cyrus' new album is a "masterwork of whack genius".

The 37-year-old singer-songwriter praised the "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker's new album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz and said he is "totally transfixed" by the experimental sound.

"I'm totally transfixed by this Miley Cyrus album. This is why I love music. You can be one artist one year and the next discover some crazy light inside yourself and shine it everywhere," he posted on Twitter.

But his praise for the eccentric star, 22, didn't stop there as he referred to it as "amazing" before he was forced to calm himself down and "stop tweeting" about the new album.

"This Miley album is amazing. You can't try to make something like this. You just tap the vein and don't question a single instinct. Okay. I'll stop tweeting about it now. Comes down to this: This is a masterwork of whack genius.
