John Abraham says as a producer he chooses to make commercially viable projects.

The 40-year-old, whose debut production 'Vicky Donor' became hit, said his acting projects are however not based on commercial reasons.

"I am an actor and there are two sides to me... Right and left. The left side thinks as a producer and the right side thinks as an actor. So when I think from right side you make choices that are not based on commercial reasons. And I am very clear about. And I don't have any problem about it," John told PTI.

As an actor John would love a sequel to 'No Smoking' but will do the project when he sees it has a box office potential.

"I would love to do a sequel to 'No Smoking'. Most people have expressed shock. But this is the actor side of me that thinks that way. I think it was a good film. I don't know if it will translate into commercial success or not. The producer side of me will make sure whatever I do, I make it work commercially."

John is hoping that his next film 'Madras Cafe' will also click well at the box office.

"If 'Vicky Donor' worked, I know 'Madras Cafe' will work on sheer economics. As a producer I know that I have selected a script that I am absolutely sure of," he said.

"When people walk out of the theatre they should say this is from the makers of 'Vicky Donor'. It should have that impact. If I cannot create that impact with my films or production house then there is a serious issue. I am sure 'Madras Cafe' will do that for me," he said.

'Vicky Donor' not only went on to bag several film awards but also won national award this year. But John does not let the pressure get on to him.

"In everybody's head it is like we have to better ourselves than 'Vicky Donor'. But I don't take pressure. After 'Madras Cafe' I have a film titled 'Hamara Bajaj'. I ensure all my films are different... I think at the end each film has its destiny," he said.

'Hamara Bajaj' will see Ayushmann Khurrana, Shoojit Sircar and John teaming up again. The makers are looking out for a new girl for the movie.

'Madras Cafe' is a thriller with Nargis Fakhri and him. John will be seen next in 'Shootout at Wadala', 'Dostana 2' and an action film with Abbas-Mustan.
