Johnny Depp turned up a little worse for wear to present an award at the 18th Annual Hollywood Film Festival.

The 51-year-old actor looked confused and got distracted by the double microphone as he came on stage to present the documentary award for 'Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon', about Hollywood's renowned talent manager.

"That's the weirdest microphone I ever saw in my life," Depp said as he started fiddling with the mic, much to the amusement of the celebrity crowd.

"I'm not very good at this type of thing," he confessed as he proceeded to read the tribute speech from the teleprompter.

"Watch, I'm going to read this thing," he warned the audience as he started saying, "For decades Shep Gordon has been one of the most beloved and respected talent managers in the music industry, he is also the current star and subject of the documentary Supermensch... Cos he is a mensch."

Depp then opted for his own speech with: 'I've been very, very lucky to have him in my life. He is someone I consider a great friend, an incredibly loyal friend. So you have to watch the film!"

After stumbling through some words, Depp returned to get some cue from teleprompter but blurted out an expletive, which was removed from the telecast.

"What does that say?," he said with a cuss-word before covering his mouth.

"I mean it's one of those nights," he said.
