Country singer Johny Cash has been honoured with a bridge in Folsom, California named after him.

The late singer named his landmark 1968 album, 'At Folsom Prison', after the place and now local officials have named USD 3.8 million new pedestrian and bicycle overpass, reported Contactmusic.

The first section of the 2.5 mile (four kilometre) Johnny Cash Trail and Overpass was unveiled on 4 October this year.

City leaders are now seeking new investors to help ensure the completion of the project, which reportedly requires a further USD 3 million in funding.

The remaining plans for the trail include a park and a 40-foot (12-metre) tall statue of the icon. Cash died of complications from diabetes in 2003. She is aged 71.
