Work in several tea gardens across North Bengal was disrupted in response to a strike call given by the Joint Forum of 17 tea labourer associations.
Forum Joint Secretary Chitto Dey said the strike was called to press for the demmand for enhancement of wage, gratuity and PF-related issues of the plantation workers in over 1,000 tea gardens in the region.
Dey claimed work was affected in all tea gardens functioning in the region, as labourers didnot join for work.
