"It has been decided that a joint team of engineers of both the countries would examine soil and other technicalities to build the bridge," Tripura Industries and Commerce minister Jiten Chowdhury told reporters.
The state government's proposal to construct the bridge had earlier been cleared by the Indian government and Bangladesh, he said.
"When the bridge is built in Ramgarh area of Bangladesh, it would connect the Chittagong port, just 75 kms from Indian border town, Sabroom and open the gateway to carry goods from the port to the north eastern region of our country," he added.
The estimated cost for construction of the bridge is Rs 40 crore, he said.
Sabroom would be connected by Indian Railways by 2014 and if the bridge is constructed before it, India's north eastern region would be well connected with the Chittagong port, he said.
