"Cougar Town" alum Josh Hopkins has been roped in to star in Priyanka Chopra-starrer ABC FBI drama "Quantico" as a new series regular.

The 44-year-old actor will take over the role of Special Agent Liam O'Connor, originally played by Dougray Scott (Hemlock Grove) in the pilot, said The Hollywood Reporter.

Hopkins has joined the cast of series' protagonist Priyanka (who plays Alex Parrish, an FBI trainee), Jake McLaughlin, Aunjanue Ellis, Yasmine Al Masri among others.

The drama centres on a group of young FBI recruits training at the Quantico base in Virginia and how one of them turns out to be a sleeper terrorist responsible for the most devastating terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11.

Hopkins' character is described as a good-looking and charming staff counsellor who works with new agent trainees.

Marc Munden directed the pilot of the drama, which will debut on September 27 this year.
