BJP MP Murli Manohar Joshi will adopt a village outside his constituency Kanpur as not a single village here fulfilled the criteria for adoption.

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of MPs' model village scheme under which parliamentarians will adopt one village in their respective constituencies, Joshi had asked BJP's Kanpur unit to find a village for adoption.

We reviewed all villages in Kanpur but not a single village was deemed fit for adoption, Kanpur BJP district president Surendra Maithani said today.

He said that for a village to be adopted it must lack the basic infrastructure, must have a population between three to five thousand people and a panchayat.

Joshi will now adopt a village in a neighbouring constituency and has issued orders regarding it, he said.
