Journalist beaten up

Marathi daily was allegedly beaten up by four persons, including a woman here today, police said.

According to police, the accused were upset over a report written by the crime reporter Sandeep Jadhav over the "illegal activities" in Bidi Kamgar Nagar locality in the city.

The accused landed up at the newspaper office in Chandak Circle area of the city and asked Jadhav to meet them in the parking area of the office, Hemant Somwanshi, in-charge of Sarkarwada police station said.

"When Jadhav came there, the woman and three others thrashed him up for publishing the report. Jadhav received minor injuries in the incident," he said.
 

Jadhav has lodged a complaint in this regard and all the accused have been detained. "They are being interrogated," the officer said.

Meanwhile, Nashik District Journalists Association has condemned the attack and demanded stern action against the accused.
