Journalist killed in road accident

Two persons, including a journalist, were killed and three others injured when the jeep in which they were travelling collided with a truck in Odisha's Keonjhar district today.

The mishap took place on NH 215 at Pipilia when the jeep carrying a group of media persons was returning from Puri to Joda, police said.

While Balram Mohapatra (45), correspondent of an Odia daily newspaper, died on the spot, the driver of the jeep succumbed to his injuries at Keonjhar district headquarter hospital, they said.

The injured media persons -- Manoranjan Lenka, Ashwini Nayak and Ugrasena Mohanty -- have been admitted to the hospital.
 

They had gone to Puri to attend a conference of Odisha Working Journalists' Union, they added.
