Jowar edges up on increased offtake

Jowar prices rose up to Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale grain market today, supported by increased offtake by consuming industries.

However, other grains including wheat and rice, held steady in restricted buying.

Traders said increased demand from consuming industries attributed the rise in jowar prices.

In the national capital, jowar yellow and white rose by Rs 25 and Rs 50 to Rs 1,625-1,725 and Rs 3,050-3,150 per quintal respectively.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Wheat MP (desi) 2,350-2,700, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,640-1,645, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,650-1,655, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti Bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 870-880 (50 kg), Maida 960-965 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,050-1,060 (50 kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 5,000-5,200, Rice Pusa (1121) 3,900-5,100, Permal raw 1,675-1,725, Permal wand 1,840-1,860, Sela 2,250-2,350 and Rice IR-8 1,600-1,616, Bajra 1,430-1,435, Jowar yellow 1,625-1,725, white 3,050-3,150, Maize 1,430-1,435, Barley 1,320-1,330.
