Terming it as a "racist tirade", Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) today condemned BJP leader Giriraj Singh's controversial statement about Sonia Gandhi saying the union minister's remark was "uncultured" and exhibited his "narrow mindset".
In a press statement issued by the JPCC, party spokesman Banna Gupta said the entire country was hurt by the minister's comment against its daughter-in-law and wife of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and herself the president of country's oldest political party.
The basis of BJP and RSS was uncultured and anti-women, Gupta alleged, adding that it was a deliberate conspiracy of the minister to highlight himself and to divert the minds of the common-man from core issues.

The people of the country were annoyed with BJP, which has grabbed the power by making false promises and failed to fulfil the promises. Hence, they were issuing such controversial statements to divert people's mind, he claimed.
Gupta, a former Agriculture Minister of Jharkhand, demanded that prime minister Narendra Modi should immediately dismiss Singh from his cabinet and apologise to womenfolk of the country including Sonia Gandhi on moral grounds if he was really serious about women empowerment and their honour.
Meanwhile, led by its President Vijay Khan, East Singhbhum District Congress Committee today set ablaze the effigies of Singh, prime minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah at Sakchi roundabout in protest.
JPCC President (OBC cell) Manoj Yadav, who also participated in the protest rally, alleged that one of the cabinet minister has been issuing controversial statement since the run-up to the general elections but no action was taken against him by the BJP.
