The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) today praised Union Minister Jairam Ramesh for including six districts from Jharkhand in the newly launched 'Roshni' scheme.
"Jairam Rameshji has once again showed how deeply he is concerned for Jharkhand. He has been visiting the state frequently, launched Saranda and Saryu Action Plans in West Singhbhum and Latehar districts, and now six districts from the state are among the 24 in the new scheme," JPCC spokesman Sailesh Sinha said here.
"The Union Rural Development Minister has always maintained that development is one of the main weapons to root out naxalism, and 'Roshni' is another programme which will ensure development in the Naxal-affected districts," Sinha said.
The newly launched scheme is aimed at skill development and placement for 50,000 youth from 24 Left Wing Extremism- affected districts in the country.
Six districts each from Jharkhand and Odisha, five from Chhattisgarh, two from Bihar and one each from Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra have been chosen for the scheme.
The scheme will be implemented at a cost of Rs 100 crore over the next three years. Under the scheme, projects would be funded jointly by the central and state governments in the ratio of 75:25.
