Police are awaiting a report from the BMC to register an FIR against persons concerned under section 304A of IPC (causing death by negligence not amounting to culpable homicide), N M Joshi Marg police told PTI this evening.

The Fire department is yet submit its report to the BMC, on the basis of which they will prepare the report and submit it to the police.

The JSW Ispat office, which collapsed earlier in the day falls under the jurisdiction of the NM Joshi Marg police station in central Mumbai.

The company said two of its employees lost their lives and six others received injuries when a portion of its office at Victoria House, located at Lower Parel in central Mumbai, collapsed.

"It is with a deep sense of remorse that JSW Steel states that some of its group companies including JSW Ispat Steel, having one of their offices at Victoria House, has suffered a partial structural collapse this morning," the company said in a statement.

The company also said that the six injured employees are undergoing treatment at a city hospital and are out of danger.

Victoria House, which is the registered office of JSW Ispat Steel, was acquired by it in 2005 and the collapse appears to have occurred due to certain modifications carried out within a part of the ground floor--which does not belong to the JSW Group, the company said.
