Judge asked to look into allegations of attack on students

Madras High Court today directed Additional Special judge of TADA court Senthil Kumaresan to inspect the jail here and file a report on a habeas corpus petition filed by a woman seeking direction to produce her son, arrested for participating in an anti-liquor stir.

The petitioner V Sulochana submitted that her son Sarathy, student of Pachayappa's College here, had participated in the recent agitation along with other students and was arrested.

Her son was attacked by the wardens of the jail brutally and without any treatment kept in ail, she submitted before a division bench comprising justices S Tamilvanan and B Rajendran.
 

She prayed the court to direct the officials to produce her son and other students before the court and consequently direct authorities to send them for treatment.

The bench directed the TADA court Judge to inquire into the matter and file a report tomorrow.
