Judge expresses concern at lack of children home in Bihar

"Bihar lacks children homes in several districts to take care of mentally and physically challenged children", he said while inaugurating of a sensitization workshop.

The Directorate of social welfare has assured that the proper infrastructure will be made available as soon as possible for proper functioning of child welfare committee (CWC), Justice Sinha, who chairs the high court's monitoring committee on juvenile justice, said.

He pointed out that a major concern about proper care of the mentally and physically challenged children was lack of homes and emphasized that there should be one children home in each district.

Justice Sinha further said that to ensure development and protection of the children in need, homes should be set up immediately otherwise proper implementation of juvenile justice and proper exercise of Children Welfare Committee will not be possible.

 

In her valedictory address, Patna high court chief justice Rekha M Doshit said that the society should show special concern towards the children who are mentally on physically challenged.

Such children lag behind the normal children as they are by default slow learner, so they need to provide extra time and care to care and bring them back in the main stream, she said.
