Judicial custody of IPS officer extended

Kumar, a former West Zone IG, lodged in the Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai, was brought and produced before the court where Judge-incharge Ramamurthi extended the remand.

Kumar is facing charges of abduction and bribery in the scam. He was later taken back to Chennai, police said.

The IPS officer was arrested on May 2 by CBI sleuths in New Delhi for allegedly extorting Rs. 2.85 crore from the accused of Paazee Forex in Tirupur, to hush up the scam.

Pazee Forex has been accused of cheating investors Rs 829 crore of promised returns and dividends.
