Arrest of Indian fishermen: Judicial remand extended to Sept 4

The judicial remand of 65 fishermen from Karaikal and Nagapattinam, who were arrested on July 30 by Sri Lankan Navy personnel, has been extended upto September 4, officials said today.

The officials said 31 fishermen from Karaikal and 34 fishermen from Nagapattinam were arrested for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line.

They were produced before the Trincomallee and Paruthithurai Courts for remand extension today.

They were later lodged in prison, officials added.
