The Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court Mansoor Ahmad Mir today said a strong judiciary, by which he meant strong rule of law, is an essential component for a peaceful and protected society.
Justice Mir, speaking at a full court reference to honour him on assuming charge of acting chief justice today, said, "My aim is to see a strong judiciary everywhere in the country and would work for this cause vigorously."
Asking advocates to refrain from seeking unnecessary adjournments to facilitate timely justice, he laid stress on making the Lok Adalat and mediation/alternative dispute resolution more effective. It would be "my endeavour to live up to the expectations of the people" and legal fraternity of Himachal Pradesh, he said.
