Hollywood star Julia Roberts is all set to play mother to "Room" child actor Jacob Tremblay in the big screen adaptation of children's book "Wonder".

Stephen Chbosky, the author of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and director of its 2012 big-screen adaptation, is attached to direct Wonder from a screenplay by Steve Conrad, reported Entertainment Weekly.

"Wonder" tells the story of 10-year-old Auggie Pullman (Tremblay), a boy with a facial deformity who enrolls in a private school after years of homeschooling.

Roberts, 48, is set to play Auggie's mother in the book adaptation of R J Palacio.

Mandeville Films' Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman will serve as producers.

Tremblay, nine, became a red carpet darling with his endearing presence as "Room" scooped up prizes this awards season.

The young actor played the role of a boy who finds it hard to come to terms with the reality after being rescued from an underground room where he was trapped with his mother by a kidnapper.
