An adult jumbo was electrocuted
at Kakojan tea estate while retunring to Gibbon wildlife sanctuary in Assam, forest officials said today.
A herd of seven elephants was returning to the sanctuary yesterday after their night long movement in the tea garden and adjacent areas when the trunk of one of them came in contact with a high voltage killing it on the spot, the officials said.
The herd of elephants may have come out in search of food as the sanctuary has shortage of water and food, said Range Officer of Mariani, Joyram Bora.
