In doing so, the 42-year-old lived up to the sobriquet of 'Goldfinger', which he had earned after winning a whopping five yellow metals in the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.

Jung shot 587 out of 600, one better than his previous best, at the Shiv-Chhatrapati Sports Complex Shooting Range, Balewadi.

The veteran shooter, who won the David Dixon award for the best athlete of the 2006 CWG, with a rich haul of five gold, one silver and one bronze, said, "I am happy with my performance. It was nice to finish the way I did today."

Meanwhile, Vikram Kakade of Gun for Glory Shooting Academy, won the silver medal in the men's clay pigeon trap event. In the women's 10m air pistol category, the top seven shooter reached the final, which will be held tomorrow.

The championship is held under the aegis of Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation.
