Lt Governor Najeeb Jung today congratulated Delhi for winning the best State Award under the category of initiatives for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and Electoral Roll Management on the National Voter's Day 2016.
Jung lauded the election machinery, government departments, agencies and media for making all out efforts and arrangements and undertaking innovative ways to reach out to the electorate with Delhi having witnessed three elections in very recent times.
"I congratulate all who have done three elections in very very recent times, in very difficult circumstances. Because passions are higher, people's desperation to win and their disappointment in losing is much greater and so I applaud each one of you. Election duties are very irregularly, arduous and laborious. It gives you no scope to make mistake and you cannot afford to make mistakes," said Jung addressing the 6th National Voters' Day celebrations organised by Delhi Chief Electoral Office.

Jung administered the National Voters Day pledge to officials and staff and said everyone should be encouraged to use their right to vote.
"Over the years we have become the most successful and largest democracy in the world. It is through efforts of all of you and my colleagues here that the example of India is emulated across the globe.
"At the press of a button 360 million people vote and within 24 hours we get the result. This experiment this great task has not happened anywhere in the world, you just have to shut your eyes for a minute the enormity of this work and therefore congratulations that you deserve at having performed this task. India stands tall and pride of this successful experiment.," Jung said.
Jung who was the chief guest at the event conferred State/UT level awards for best electoral activities during the 2015 General Assembly Elections to election officials, departments (NDMC, Education, Delhi Transport Cooperation, Delhi Metro, Delhi Police) and radio channels.
