Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung today directed the Health Department to take action against private medical shops running near government hospitals allegedly selling medicines without a cash memo.
Further, Jung directed the Chief Secretary to file a detailed report on Babujagjivan Ram Hospital after a full enquiry after the Deputy Commissioner (North) informed that the hospital was found lacking on several fronts.
Jung also took a serious note of a complaint by the DC (South) about a private hospital which was found to be not extending its facilities to EWS patients and asked the Health Secretary to initiate proceedings against such violations.
"There can be no tolerance for violations which affect the poorest of the poor. We must ensure that there is strict adherence to the law," Jung said.
Jung held a review meeting of all departments today during which DC (East) informed him that suitable action has been initiated against dispensaries which showed variations in stock book and physical stock and FIRs have been registered against Fair Price Shops which displayed variation in stock. 6 FIRS have also been registered against diversion of domestic gas cylinders for commercial use.
While DC (West) informed that illegal encroachments in Tikri Kalan have been removed and action has been taken and notices issued in this regard, the DC (South) informed that a total of 62 Bighas 4 Biswa of Gram Sabha Land had been recovered in Devli, Maidan Garhi, Aya Nagar and Gadaipur villages.
Jung directed the Divisional Commissioner to explore the possibility of using the recovered land for constructing dispensaries and schools.
Apart from that DC (Central) informed Jung that out of 14 fair price shops visited during field visits, 4 have been sealed for violations.
The DC (North West) informed that encroachments had been removed from 15 bigha land as also 200 other small encroachments.
Jung asked about the recent fire incident in Sultanpuri and was informed that compensation is being given and FIRs have been registered.
The DC (South-West) informed about large absenteeism being seen, both of students and teachers in a MCD primary school in their area to which Jung directed that the MCD Commissioner be informed.
"If any agency is seen not performing their tasks, information must be brought to the notice of Divisional Commissioner, Chief Secretary and me," Jung said and added that DCs should not hesitate from recommending action against non-performers.
