In a development that may further escalate tension between Lt Governor and AAP government, Delhi Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla today said Najeeb Jung and ACB chief M K Meena will be summoned for "questioning" in connection with four cases pertaining to alleged scams during the Sheila Dikshit rule.

Birla said they will be summoned by the Petitions Committee of the Assembly, which looks into complaints received from common public.

Birla, who is the chairperson of the Committee, told a press conference that it has power to summon the LG who has to tell as to why no action was taken on four FIRs registered by the first AAP government during its 49-day stint.

"At a meeting of the Petitions Committee, we have decided to summon the LG, Meena and investigating officer (of the cases). (They) will be summoned for questioning by the Committee pertaining to registration of five FIRs during the previous AAP government. We will also seek legal opinion from the Standing Counsel to proceed," she said.

All members of the nine-member Committee are AAP MLAs.

She said this is a serious issue as "two former Central government ministers and one prominent industrialist" are involved in these cases.

Yesterday, 12 AAP MLAs had gone to Raj Niwas, the LG's official residence, and demanded FIR be registered against Jung and Meena in these case.

The AAP legislators had then approached Speaker Ram Niwas Goel who forwarded the letters of Bharti and another MLA, along with complaints received from common public, to the Petitions Committee of the Assembly.

Meanwhile, Meena dismissed allegations in connection with the cases and said though he has received no notice yet but he has sought legal opinion whether he can be issued any notice on the same.

"I would request their (AAP) leaders not to go here and there with false allegations. If needed, we will take action against them," he said.
