Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has said he will review the work on the de-silting of drains and nullahs by visiting certain areas of the national capital as part of efforts to ensure that the city does not come to a standstill due to flooding during monsoons.

Sharing the news at a stock-taking meeting at Raj Niwas today, Jung said, "We will not accept the flooding of Delhi roads. All concerned must sit up and ensure that work is completed on a war-footing.

"Wherever work related to de-silting, etc. Remains pending, agencies must act with urgency and complete it within the next 10 days."

The LG, who reviewed presentations made in this regard by the DCs, agencies and municipal commissioners today, is scheduled to visit certain sites identified by his office between June 16-20.

Jung had yesterday expressed his displeasure over the laxity on de-silting of storm water drains after the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of all the districts pointed out that work on the same in some areas did not match the claims made by agencies and MCD commissioners.

Taking a serious note of the matter, Jung had directed the DCs to provide photographic proof of the extent of work remaining in their respective districts.
