A junior doctor who worked at the Hindu Rao Hospital in north Delhi allegedly committed suicide last evening following stress of an upcoming exam, police said today.

"It seems that he took some injection to commit suicide," said a police official.

The deceased, identified as Tanuj Aggarwal (27), had been working at the hospital for the last six months. Last evening, he reached home after work at around 6 PM and then purportedly administered an injection and felt unconscious.

His brothers rushed him to Hindu Rao Hospital where he was declared brought dead. Authorities then informed police about the death, police said.

"His family members have revealed that he was under stress for the MD (Doctor of Medicine) entrance exam he was supposed to appear in. It seems that he took the extreme step as he was afraid of failure," the official said.

Aggarwal was unmarried and his father died some years ago. He stayed with his four brothers and mother at Sohanganj in north Delhi's Sabzi Mandi locality.
