A Junior Engineer was today caught red-handed by the state vigilance sleuths on charge of accepting bribe at Chaibasa in adjoining West Singhbhum district, Vigilance department sources said.
The Junior Engineer Arvind Hembram, who was posted at Sadar Block in Zilla Parishad's MANREGA section, was allegedly accepting Rs.20,000 from a contractor to enter the PCC road construction work done when a six-member team of the vigilance department led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Vig) Awadesh Kumar arrested him, sources said.
A villager Ghanshyam Purty had complained to the vigilance department about the demand made by Hembram from the contractor Ganesh Purty and the vigilance officials accordingly laid a trap.
