Jurors have reached a verdict in the trial of a US woman accused of stabbing to death her boyfriend with the stiletto heel of her shoe.

Ana Trujillo is accused of striking 59-year-old Alf Stefan Andersson at least 25 times in the face with her shoe during an argument in June at his Houston condominium. Her attorneys say she was defending herself from an attack.

The jury deliberated about two hours before announcing it had a verdict today.

During closing arguments earlier today, prosecutor John Jordan told jurors that Trujillo's actions were not self-defense but "vicious murder."

Jack Carroll, Trujillo's attorney, countered that his client did the only thing she could do while being attacked: defend herself.

Trujillo faces up to life in prison if convicted of murder.
