JUSCO installs LED street lighting

As part of the 'Green City' initiative, Jamshedpur Utility and Services Company (JUSCO) has installed LED street lighting for the steel city.

JUSCO, the 100 per cent subsidiary of Tata Steel which provides the municial services under Tata Steel command area here, has chalked out plans to replace conventional High Power Sodium Vapour (HPSV) lighting with LED, a company press release said here.

As part of implementation drive, 400 LED lights have been installed.

GE Lighting, a leading multinational in this field, offered lighting solutions with very high reliability and a low defect rate.

Highlighting the benefits, Jusco claimed that the innovative technology being used by GE for manufacturing LED, it brings down the energy consumption by over 54 per cent as compared to the conventional lights.
 

As about 20 per cent of a town's electricity consumption was attributed to street lighting, the installation of LED street light would prove great energy saver in the interest of nation, the release said.
