Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty was today appointed as the acting chief justice of the Jharkhand High Court even as seven new additional judges were appointed to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Justice Mohanty will assume charge tomorrow as incumbent Justice Virendra Singh retires today as the chief justice.
After Justice Mohanty assumes charge as acting chief justice, three high courts -- Andhra Pradesh/Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand -- will have acting chief justices.

Meanwhile, in the last two days, seven new additional judges have been appointed to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Last week, the government had notified the appointment of 15 judges to Madras High Court and five additional judges to the Kerala High Court.
At least 75 names are likely to be cleared for judgeship in various high courts, including around 25 recommended by the Supreme Court collegium for the Allahabad High Court in the coming days.
