Former supreme court Justice Shivaraj V Patil has been elected president of Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, an institution of national importance here.
"Justice Shivaraj V Patil was elected president of Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha," General Secretary of the Sabha G V Krishna Rao said here today in a press release.
A meeting of the newly elected governing body members of the Sabha was held here today in which the office-bearers were elected, he said.

The sabha was founded in 1918 by Mahatma Gandhi with the aim of propagating Hindi in southern states. It was declared an institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament in 1964.
