Former Supreme Court judge, Justice Vikramajit Sen has been appointed as the new chairman of Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC), a self- regulatory for general entertainment channels.
A statement from the TV ombudsman stated that a delegation of the Indian Broadcasting Foundation Board, led by its president, Punit Goenka invited Sen to chair the BCCC for the next three years.
Sen succeeds former Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice, Justice Mukul Mudgal whose three-year term as BCCC Chairperson has come to an end.
"I am looking forward to this exciting assignment. Independence of the media is extremely important and equally important is the responsibility that comes along with it," he said in the statement.
