Juveline apprehended for stealing costly phones in Metro

Security personnel have apprehended a juvenile for allegedly stealing mobile phones of Metro commuters at busy stations.

Officials said two days ago it was reported by a woman commuter that her smartphone had been stolen while she was collecting a travel token from a vending machine on November 28 at Rithala Metro station.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Metro police personnel scanned the CCTV footage of the area and identified a young boy in suspicious circumstances after which he was put on surveillance.

"Constable Inderpal of the force saw the suspect the very next day loitering in the same area in an attempt to conduct yet another theft. He was caught and questioned after which he confessed to have stolen the the mobile phone.
 

"The 14-year-old from Jharkhand is suspected to be involved in other thefts in the Metro and he has now been sent to juvenile home and a case has been registered against him," a senior CISF officer said.
