Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) chief Babulal Marandi today said further talks would be held with the Janata Dal (United) after the two parties agreed to work together in Bihar and Jharkhand to fulfill each other's "common goals".
"I spoke to Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar and agreed to work together to realise our common goals in our respective states," Marandi told PTI.
"JD(U) demands special status for Bihar. JVM demands special status for Jharkhand. JD(U) wants to strengthen non-Congress and non-BJP parties. We too want it. So, as of now we have decided to work together to realise our goals," the former Jharkhand Chief Minister said.
Asked whether it was a prelude to joining or setting up a Third Front ahead of the 2014 general elections, the JVM-P supremo said it would be premature to comment on it as well as on whether JVM-P and the JD(U) would have seat adjustments in the two states.
Marandi said further talks would be held.
Earlier in the year, Marandi had said JVM-P would contest all 81 Assembly seats and 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand alone.
