Jyothy Lab Q1 up 78% at Rs 45.90 crore

FMCG firm Jyothy Laboratories today reported 78.18 per cent increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 45.90 crore for the first quarter ended on June 30, 2016.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 25.76 crore in the April-June period of 2015-16 fiscal, Jyothy Lab, the makers of famous Ujala fabric whitener, said in a BSE filing.

Its net sales were up 8.88 per cent to Rs 439.89 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 403.98 crore of the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

"It was an over all performance from all categories. We have an overall growth of 10.2 per cent in volume and 9 per cent by value. Our mosquito repellents does not do good because of extended summers," Jyothy Lab Jt Managing Director Ullas Kamath said.
 

Its revenue from fabric care was up 10.7 per cent to Rs 204.5 crore as against Rs184.7 crore.

Revenue from household insecticides was down 11.2 per cent to Rs 34 crore as against Rs 38.3 crore. While the personal care was up 14.1 per cent to Rs 55.2 crore as against Rs 48.4 crore.

The dishwashing segment was up 9.9 per cent to Rs 128.1 crore as against Rs 116.6 crore, with products like Pril, etc.

Meanwhile, in a separate filing the company informed the BSE that its board in a meeting held today has designated M R Jyothy, Whole Time Director as the Whole Time Director & Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) with immediate effect.

Shares of the company today settled at Rs 285.40 on BSE, down 0.33 per cent from previous close.
