Firm conditions emerged at the wholesale pulses market today, as prices of Kabuli gram and other pulses surged by up to Rs 300 per quintal on brisk buying by stockists following uptick in demand from dal mills and retailers.
Marketmen said increased buying by stockists following pick-up in demand from dal mills and retailers against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up kabuli gram and prices of other pulses.
In the national capital, kabuli gram small variety gained the most by rising Rs 300 to Rs 4,550-5,350 per quintal.
Gram edged up by Rs 50 to Rs 3,800-3,850, while its dal local and best quality traded higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,900-4,300 and Rs 4,300-4,400 per quintal, respectively.
Arhar and its dal dara variety also recovered by Rs 50 and Rs 100 to Rs 3,700 and Rs 5,000-6,900 per quintal, respectively.
Masoor small and bold finished higher by Rs 50 each to Rs 3,550-3,800 and Rs 3,700-3,850 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality enquired higher by Rs 100 and Rs 80 to Rs 4,000-4,400 and Rs 4,100-4,500 per quintal, respectively.

In line with the overall trend, urad and its dal chilka went up by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,700-4,900 and Rs 4,350-4,450 per quintal, respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 4,450-4,950 and Rs 4,900-5,100 per quintal.
