Noted nuclear scientist Anil Kakodkar tonight said the 900th birth anniversary of renowned mathematician and astronomer Bhaskaracharya should have been celebrated on a grand scale at the national level.
No doubt, celebrations are being organised on small scale at different locations in the country. But what was needed was national level events on big scale befitting the iconic status of the 12th century mathematician, he said.
The former chairman of Atomic Energy Commission was delivering a special lecture on the eve of an international conference being organised here to discuss the life and work of Bhaskaracharya, born in 1,114 in modern-day Karnataka.
