Union Minister Kalraj Mishra today appealed to the people to shun Western goods and adopt those made indigenously.

Asking the khadi craftsmen to adopt new designs and techniques of production, the Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises advised them to give special attention to packaging of their products.

He said this while inaugurating a three-day handicraft conference of representatives from four states and an exhibition at Chaudhary Charan Singh University.

Instead of no-profit-no-loss scheme, khadi goods would be sold only on profit basis, Mishra said, adding that its sale target has been increased by one-and-a-half times.

Along with Uttar Pradesh, the conference and exhibition has been attended by craftsmen and weavers from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand.
