The 600-MW Kameng Hydro Electric Project that envisages an annual generation of 3353 MU of electricity is now stated to be ready with completion of the 14.47 km long Head Race Tunnel (HRT) on Monday.
The 10-year-old project, that started in February 2005, is now completed with the HRT able to feed water to the hydro-turbines of Kimi Power House from the Bichom Dam, a press release informed here today.
The project is being executed by North East Electrical Power Corporation (NEEPCO).
NEEPCO CMD P C Pankaj activated the last blast on March 16 at 11 am in Face-II of HRT at Bichom in presence of state Parliamentary Secretary for Public Health Engineering and Water Supply Kumsi Sidisow, West Kameng Deputy Commissioner A K Singh, ED (P) hydro M K Sharma, ED (D&E) B C Saha, head of project S K Baruah and host of officials from NEEPCO and Patel Engineering, the release added.
